Be Adventurous

2011 has been an eventful year filled with highs and lows. The transition from graduating, returning home, and finding a job wasn’t all that easy but I’m happy with where I’ve gotten so far. I too had a good vacation, spending Christmas and New Years in Taipei and before I knew it, Chinese New Year is about a week away.

Just a few days ago, my boss enlightened my colleagues and I with quantum physics, the big bang theory, evolution, religion, and the purpose of life — all into the wee hours. The context was deep but it gave me a whole new perspective about life and existence.

3 guys, 44 days, 11 countries, 18 flights, 38 thousand miles, an exploding volcano, 2 cameras and almost a terabyte of footage… all to turn 3 ambitious linear concepts based on movement, learning and food ….into 3 beautiful and hopefully compelling short films….. = a trip of a lifetime.

Androp「Bright Siren」 via fastcompany

When we listened to the ‘Bright Siren’, we envisioned bright lights flickering in the darkness, and the lyrics ‘not to make it a memory’ has stuck in our minds. From these inspirations, we came up with the idea of using camera strobos as pixels to create an animation out of light. We actually lined up 250 cameras and controlled each strobos through a computer program. All the lights in the film are real, and no CG were used.
