Be Adventurous
2011 has been an eventful year filled with highs and lows. The transition from graduating, returning home, and finding a job wasn’t all that easy but I’m happy with where I’ve gotten so far. I too had a good vacation, spending Christmas and New Years in Taipei and before I knew it, Chinese New Year is about a week away.
Just a few days ago, my boss enlightened my colleagues and I with quantum physics, the big bang theory, evolution, religion, and the purpose of life — all into the wee hours. The context was deep but it gave me a whole new perspective about life and existence.
Then I came across this inspiring video from black*eiffel. MADE IN ICELAND from Klara Harden on Vimeo.
New year, new beginnings. Cheers to being adventurous :)

One Art by Elizabeth Bishop
The art of losing isn’t hard to master;
so many things seem filled with the intent
to be lost that their loss is no disaster.Lose something every day. Accept the fluster
of lost door keys, the hour badly spent.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master. Then practice losing farther, losing faster:
places, and names, and where it was you meant
to travel. None of these will bring disaster.I lost my mother’s watch. And look! my last, or
next-to-last, of three loved houses went.
The art of losing isn’t hard to master.I lost two cities, lovely ones. And, vaster,
some realms I owned, two rivers, a continent.
I miss them, but it wasn’t a disaster.—Even losing you (the joking voice, a gesture
I love) I shan’t have lied. It’s evident
the art of losing’s not too hard to master
though it may look like (Write it!) like disaster.

Whether you’re an actor, athlete, or artist, or perhaps setting up your own business, bar or bellydance school, or standing for elections, studying for exams, shedding some weight or starting a new hobby; to succeed, you gotta turn up. You have to put in those hours, no matter what time of day or how long it goes on for. Dedication, drive and determination are associated with this notion. And of course, the hours have to be productive; good quality time spent.

James Victore Live at AIGA SF by Hillman Curtis via thedonutproject Just watched this funny and inspiring talk by James Victore. His take on perfection: “Fuck perfection. Perfection fucking ruins things. Perfection will stop you guys from starting projects. Perfection will stop you guys from finishing pojects. Perfection will keep you looking at the letter space between fucking letters. Don’t worry about it. Nobody cares. Perfection is not interesting.

Going to work for a large company is like getting on a train. Are you going sixty miles an hour or is the train going sixty miles an hour and you’re just sitting still?
